ATI Performance Products is proud to introduce its Super Damper for the McLaren M838T(E) & M840T(E) Engines. Part #917181 is a 7.07-inch diameter aluminum shell and hub damper that is a direct replacement for OEM McLaren Part #1211F0708CP, as well as Metaldyne 00038630 -3 and +3 OEM dampers. This damper may fit other engine designations as well and will work on the broadest RPM range you can throw at it. The flat plane crank in these engines works well at higher RPM but feels very rough at idle. The viscous filled OEM damper can't perform as well at higher RPM levels like the ATI Super Damper and this is where the McLaren engine shines! The damper comes with laser-etched timing marks and exceeds SFI 18.1 Safety Certification for competition use.

OEM dampers are optimally tuned to a narrow band of “perceived normal driving conditions” and do not perform well outside of those limits. Viscous fluid style and non-dampened pulleys offer no protection to highly modified and high RPM engines. The inertia weight can become fixed (locked) by plastric bearing failure or, more commonly, from the silicone turning to a solid mass resulting in damper failure and a broken crankshaft, resulting in the replacement of both your damper AND your engine. The ATI Super Damper can handle any engine speed and driving conditions that get thrown at it to better protect your engine. ATI Super Dampers provide balanced dampening of torsional crankshaft vibrations through all RPM ranges especially during competition use.
