ATI Performance Products, Inc. introduces
its new "bolt-together" carrier for heavy-duty Powerglide
transmissions. The unit comes with a Vasco output shaft that
smoothly bolts into a precision-machined 1.76 heavy-duty forged
iron carrier. Six hardened-steel pins are used to keep the
gear set in place and to ensure that the output shaft will
not rotate in the carrier. These six pins protrude from the
carrier and fit snugly into the output shaft top plate. Once
the top plate is fitted, six bolts are threaded through the
top plate and loc-tited into the carrier for an extra level
of security. This new high performance unit is available with
an 18-inch "shorty" output shaft or a 28-inch standard
shaft.
This new ATI Powerglide bolt-together carrier has many advantages
for the serious racer. By being a bolt-together unit, the
ever-present fear of output shaft warpage when it is being
welded into the carrier is eliminated. Also, if the output
shaft becomes twisted or damaged in the heat of competition
simply remove the damaged shaft and bolt in a new one.
