ATI Performance Products, Inc. introduces
a new hub for its Serpentine Series Super Damper line. This
uniquehub is designed with a serpentine Gilmer or HTD 8mm
belt drive on the hub between the damper and the engine to
drive oil or fuel pumps.
The hub is machined from aluminum for high strength and reduced
rotational weight. The pulley, machined into the hub, is designed
to drive the engine's various accessories at 60% of crank
speed. The HTD or Gilmer belt drive, which is also machined
into the hub, is used to drive an external oil pump. The hub
uses a unique heat-treated alloy steel sleeve that protects
the aluminum hub from the Teflon crankcase seal used in the
LS-1. The steel sleeve also incorporates a belt-retaining
flange to keep the oil pump belt on track.
The new belt drive hub was originally designed and built for
the American Speed Association's LS-1 V8 racing engine program.
These motors ran a total of 182,084 racing miles during the
2000 season without a failure. The ATI belt drive hubs proved
to be a superior and durable solution to driving the numerous
accessory systems that this thoroughbred racing engine requires.
The hub is designed specifically for General Motors F or Y
body, LS-1 V8 equipped, vehicles. For more information on
the new belt drive hub for the Serpentine Series Super Damper
